Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), a premier institution of higher learning, is to provide liberal higher education and research in Nigeria. It is a self-governing public institution.
On April 23, 1990, the university was founded in the former Oyo State under the name the Oyo State University of Technology, Ogbomoso (OSUTECH). Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso was the institution's new name when the Old Oyo State was split off to become the Osun State in 1991. (LAUTECH).
Up until November 20, 2020, the Oyo and Osun States jointly controlled the university. Then, due to a mutual agreement between the two states, the university became fully owned by the Oyo State.
Numerous honors and distinctions have been bestowed on LAUTECH as a whole and its employees, including:
- Nigeria's top state university.
- Nigeria's top technological university
- Nigeria's 11th-best university for research
- According to research rankings, Africa's 74th top university.
- Nigeria's fourth-best university.
About 30,000 students attend LAUTECH, and it employs more than 3,000 academic, nonteaching, and contract staff members who are highly qualified and well-regarded around the world.
