Prof. Olagunju, Funke Iyabo obtained her Ph.D in the year 2006 in the field of Agricultural Economics at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State Nigeria. Her research interests are in the area of Agribusiness, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Agricultural finance with special emphasis on policy development.
She competitively won a career-changing two-year African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) Fellowship, starting early in 2013 and ended in 2015 for her outstanding work in research for rural communities. Won institution based Tetfund grant in 2015 and partial research grant from AERC (Kenya) in 2012. In quest for more knowledge, she attended several international training workshops organized by various bodies as African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) Fellowships, African Growth and Development Consortium (AGRODEP), and (AWARD) to mention a few.
She is a research Consultant to Center for Sustainable Agricultural Empowerment (CSAE). She belongs to professional bodies as Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economist (NAAE), African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) Nairobi, Kenya, Africa Growth and Development Policy, AGRODEP, IFPRI Senegal and Nigerian Women in Agricultural and Rural Development (NIWARD) Nigeria. She is a member of various university committees. She has about 65 published articles in reputable journals, supervised 3 Ph.D students, about 10 masters students and several undergraduate students. She has several years of experience in quantitative agricultural and development economics, and good knowledge of methods for analyses and use of standard econometrics software (e.g. STATA and R) and has capacity to translate findings of applied research into policy recommendations.
She is happily married and her comportment, integrity, virtues and ideals are indeed qualities worthy of emulation. Her guiding philosophy at all time is that, success is not limited to character, it is not by how much you have in your account but how many lives you touch.
