Brief about me

Timothy Ipoola OLABIYI is a Professor of Nematology at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria. His research interests are Nematology, Crop Protection, Plant Pathology, Organic Agriculture, bio-pesticide production and Climate Change.

He did his Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Coventry University, UK (June 2007 –June 2008). He has won several grants both at national and international levels, among which are:

(1). Endure Crop Protection award for the Scientists from the International Cooperation Partners Countries, spent at Institute for Plant Protection of the Italian National Research Council, Naples, Italy

(2). University grant for the establishment of LAUTECH Organic Garden.

(3). Fellowship by the Netherlands Government (NFP/TP-fellowship) including international travel expenses for the course on Integrated pest management and food safety at Wageningen University, Netherlands TETFUND Research project Intervention: Support on Institution-based Research on the “Development and production of bio-nematicides for the control of nematode pests”

(4). Multi-Institutional West African Agricultural Productivity (WAAP-NIGERIA) on Promotion and adoption of orange fleshed sweet potato as crop and food in Oyo and Kwara States: Ogbomoso and Offa. WAAP-NIGERIA is a World Bank assisted Programme for member of Economic Community of West African State under the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN).

(5). Grant on Climate Impacts Research Capacity and Leadership Enhancement (CIRCLE) project funded by DFID, UK.

(6). Partnerships for Enhanced and Blended Learnings in West Africa (PEBL-WA) funded by Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Implemented by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), UK.

(7). Good Practices on Postharvest handling of Cashew nut for high quality. Award from Starlink Global and Ideal Company Lagos,

He has mentored several younger researchers and academia at formal and informal levels.

Olabiyi is editors of many national and international academic journals. He has attended and presented several academic papers at up to 50 national and international conferences. He has been to many countries, among which are Kenya, United Kingdom, Republic of Korea, South Africa, Republic of Benin, Italy, Netherlands, Zambia, and Ghana.

Olabiyi has over 100 publications to his credit. He has worked at 8 different higher institutions in Nigeria and abroad. He has been Head of Department, Member, Chairman and Director of different units / departments at different times during his serve in many institution in Nigeria and abroad. Currently at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso, Nigeria, he is a member of University Development Committee; Member, Business Committee of Senate, Chairman, University Ranking Committee; Chairman, University Blended Committee; and Director, University International Office.
