Professor Oluwatoyin Oluwole Oniya is a specialist in farm power and machinery of the Department of Agricultural Engineering. He had his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1995, Master of Science Degree in 2000, and Doctor of Philosophy Degree in 2010 from the Universty of Ibadan, Ibadan. He had successfully produced biodiesel fuel from loofah and groundnut oils, and the performance of the fuel was evaluated in an internal combustion engine. The performance characteristics were found similar to that of petroleum diesel fuel. He had successfully established the optimal variables for the production of biodiesel from loofah, milk bush and sand box oils using heterogenous catalyst. He developed pyrolysis plants for the production of medium grade fuels from corncobs and cassava peels. Also, he designed and constructed a low-cost semi-automated incubator with an efficiency of 93%. He had established the optimum operating parameters for a defeathering machine which was designed and constructed. Also, he found electrically heated dryer as the best method of drying red, white and cream varieties of onions at drying temperature of 50 °C. He had also established the relationship between physical properties of sour-sop seed and the moisture content. He had designed and fabricated a portable maize dryer for Iseyin community in Oyo State. He had served before as the Exam officer and the Postgraduate Coordinator of the Department of Agricultural Engineering. Currently, he is the Head of Department of Agricultural Engineering, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso.
