Brief about me

I have published in the area of Urban and Regional Planning with my research interests and focus centred on Housing, Qualitative Research and Studio Planning. I have thirty-four (35) articles comprise of seven (7) referred conference proceedings, one (1) chapter in a Book and twenty-five (27) indexed journal articles in both local and international publication with over 420 citations and numerous technical reports on various projects. My publications have contributed to planning knowledge by the following:

i. Establishing various problems being encountered towards achieving affordable housing especially among low-income households.

ii. Revealing the policy implications towards achieving affordable housing to improve nation’s living standard that influence the health, safety, comfort, convenience, welfare and productivity of the populace.

iii. Confirming that understanding and embracing qualitative approach in housing research will certainly offer outcomes that are more trustworthy and ensure adequate qualitative and quantitative housing in developing countries like Nigeria.

iv. Demonstrating that the use of qualitative and structural equation modelling approaches in planning will serve as eye opener to scholars for producing expressive and rigorous research methodologies and findings and

v. Establishing that consumers’ inclusion that have not being given proper recognition in housing policymaking resulted to poor implementation and failure of many of the housing policies in developing countries.

In addition, as a Technologist in the department of Urban and Regional Planning, I conducted a research to evaluate students’ learning style preferences among planning students in LAUTECH. This was to probe whether the students meet the objectives of the department in achieving overall university philosophy. The study validated the university general admission procedure and departmental curriculum to suggest how to improve university admission procedure for planning students. This study finally confirmed that the value and nature of departmental curriculum is enriched when the designing of a curriculum and teaching approaches are harmonised to the individual students’ learning styles. This particular publication has contributed to the body of knowledge in general in such that the study can be replicated towards other departments within the university to evaluate the achievement of the university philosophy as a whole. The results from respective departments will therefore determine the importance of reviewing the curriculum of each department so as to shape the students accordingly.

My impact in academics was also felt internationally when I was a PhD student at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. I served as chairman and co-chairman of sessions in different disciplines at International Conference on Science, Engineering and the Social Sciences (ICSESS 2015), UTM, Johor Bahru, Malaysia as well as serving as member of publicity committee of the conference. Professionally, I have prepared numerous layout design, site analysis report and plan for various projects, environmental impact assessment report for various projects and master plan for various secondary schools.
