Prof. Joel Oyekunle Olaniyi is a Professor of Horticulture in the Department of Crop Production and Soil Science, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria, He joined the University in 1995 as a graduate assistant in the Department of Agronomy. As a result of his outstanding research and publications, he rose to the post of professor in 2012. He specialized in Plant Physiology and Nutrition in Horticulture as his academic and research area. He also majors in Organic Horticultural Production.
Since joining the university, he has been effectively involved in teaching, research and community development. He has published more than 55 journal articles in reputable local and international journals, twelve learned conference proceedings, one chapter in book, three technical reports, two public lectures, two creative works and five books and monographs. He attended and presented several papers at local and international conferences and workshops. 
Prof. Olaniyi adds to his credit, awards and belongs to many professional organizations in his area of specialization, He has taught and supervised many undergraduate and graduate students in the field of Crop Production and Horticulture. He successfully supervised and graduated ten Master students and two PhD candidates. 
His service and administrative experience covers the Department, Faculty and University. He was the past Head of Department, Member of Departmental and Faculty Board of Examiner, Member of Departmental and Faculty Accreditation Committee, Member of Faculty Board of Agriculture, Chairman of University Sport Council, Chairman of University Environmental Committee, Director of University Apiary, Acting Director of University Press, Member of University Consult Ltd. etc. 
His community services include; Member of Oyo State College of Education Governing Council, Reviewer of many national and international peer-review journals, Training and on farm trial on compost production, INEC Returning Officer and Examiner of West African Examination Council. He has been an external examiner and reviewer of the professorial cadre in many Universities.
