Brief about me

As the best graduating student from Department of Pure and Applied Biology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso in 2001, I was employed in 2003 as a Teaching Assistant in the same department. This employment propelled me to enroll for the Masters programme to study Cell Biology and Genetics in Zoology Department, University of Ibadan in 2003. I bagged Master of Science in Zoology (Cell Biology and Genetics) in 2005. In 2008, I won USM-TWAS scholarship award to pursue a PhD degree programme in Life Science in the school of Biological Sciences, UniversitiSains Malaysia (USM). It is worthy of note that in the whole of Malaysian Universities, Universiti Sains Malaysia was the first to partner with TWAS in this scholarship scheme, and  I was the first USM – TWAS PhD awardee to register in 2009/2010 and defended my thesis in 2011/2012 academic session which was the exact duration provided by the USM-TWAS scholarship scheme. My University academic experience spanned through Teaching of students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervision of undergraduates and postgraduates students, coordination of courses, computation of students’ results, as well as the coordination of postgraduate programmes, being the Postgraduate Coordinator for Pure and Applied Biology department. As an Assistant Lecturer in 2005, I got promoted to the position of a Reader (an Associate Professor) in 2017 after passing through the normal duration and process stipulated by the guidelines for the Appointment and Promotion of LAUTECH staff. My Research interest lies in the assessment or screening of medicinal plants extracts for cytotoxicity, mutagenicity, and genotoxicity using in vitroand in vivo plants and animals’ genetic assays. This also includes anticancer research focusing on antimutagenic and antigenotoxic potentials of phytochemicals that are promising in providing natural chemotherapeutic prevention and treatment for cancers as one of the diseases causing most human’s deaths.
