I am Dr. James Olateju IGE. Over the years, my research activities have been Urban and Regional Planning with Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing. I have been able to develop a special focus on Defensible Space planning, Safe City Planning and Management, Crime and Community Policing, Crime and Transport, Safety and Traffic, Digital Mapping, and Visualisation of Geographic phenomena using Geospatial techniques (Geographic information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing).
The motivation for my research activities is derived from the need for policy orientation towards environmental planning and management in order to control anthropogenic impact and maximally enhance the quality of safety and security, for lives and properties, enjoyed by the rural and urban dwellers within Oyo state and Nigeria in general.
As an academic who builds a tent in the centre of knowledge to carry out researches for developmental purpose. I make contributions through consultancy services in technical report writing on Environmental Impact Assessment of: private owned farmlands, building plan proposals to be developed and utilized for worship and event centers, schools, commercial stalls, clinics, hostels, petrol filling stations to secure optimum practicable degree of sustainable, pleasant, convenient, safe and healthy living environment for the people in urban and rural environments.
With my area of specialization in Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing, I have been able to contribute to the body of knowledge of academic profession through establishing the need to pay urgent attention to computerised geospatial techniques; (GIS) and Remote Sensing techniques for supporting the capture, storage, updating, mapping, management, manipulation, analysis, modeling and display of spatially referenced data to aid the decision making process in solving complex environmental planning and management problems.
