Brief about me

I am a professor specializing in Weed Science and Ecology within the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the Department of Crop and Environmental Protection. I obtained my Ph.D. in Plant Science from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. My primary research area revolves around weed ecology and control, with a secondary interest in applied ethnobotany, environmental pollution, and food safety. I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring both undergraduate and postgraduate students in these fields for numerous years.
Throughout my career, I have held various significant roles, including serving as acting Head of the Department, Chairman of the Department Graduate Committee, and Editor in Chief of the Departmental Journal. Additionally, I have been an active member of the faculty seminar committee and Chairman of the Permanent Crop Unit at the Teaching and Research Farm. At the university level, I also participated as a member of the admission committee.
I am proud to have received several notable achievements, including winning the prestigious Mashav scholarship for Post Graduate Course on Crop Production under Saline Stress. Moreover, I successfully secured an Institution-Based Research Grant and the highly esteemed 2013 TETFUND National Research Fund (NRF) Grant.
Beyond my work at LAUTECH, I have actively engaged in other initiatives. For instance, I have been a lead Instructor for the Osun State Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES). I have also served as an external examiner for both postgraduate and undergraduate studies at various Nigerian Universities.
As a professional, I hold memberships in reputable organizations such as the Weed Society of Nigeria (WSSN) and the Nigeria Society of Plant Protection (NSPP). These affiliations demonstrate my commitment to advancing knowledge and promoting excellence within the field of agricultural sciences.
