For many years, I have taught Medical, Nursing, and Medical Laboratory students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have also supervised the research projects of many students. Currently, I am supervising two undergraduate students from the Department of Medical Laboratory Science. In the area of research, I have established the therapeutic efficacy of the leaves of Newbouldia laevis in diabetes mellitus through its interaction with glucose metabolizing enzymes. My research has also shown that extracts from the leaves of Newbouldia laevis possess anticonvulsant and antipsychotic properties. My current research is centered on screening medicinal plants for antidiabetic, anticonvulsant, sedative, anxiolytic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and other biological activities. It also involves toxicological evaluation of drugs, food additives, and natural products with bioactive components.
