Olumuyiwa Idowu Ojo obtained BEng (Agricultural Engineering) at University of Ilorin, Ilorin (1997), MSc. (Agricultural & Environmental Engineering) at University of Ibadan (2003). In 2009, he obtained PhD (DTech) in 2013. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering, LAUTECH.
Prof. Ojo won some awards which include: Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (PDF) University of South Africa, 2017: Durban University of Technology, South Africa, 2013, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Conference Travel Grant, 2014, Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Conference Travel Grants 2012; 2011; 2010; 2009; African Network of Scientific & Technological Institutions (ANSTI) Conference Travel Grant 2010 and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) PhD Grant, 2009. Others include Mashav State of Israel / Nigerian Technical Cooperation Fellowship Award for Professional Advancement in 2007; Graduate Engineer of the Year by the Nigerian Society of Engineers in 1999, Best Final students’ project, Agricultural Engineering Department, University of Ilorin, Nigeria in 1996. He has authored/co-authored more 60 peer-reviewed Journal articles and 10 conference papers, 8 of his research outputs have been published in books. His research areas: Application of remote sensing and GIS for irrigation water management, Land use and land suitability/capability evaluation, erosion mapping and waste/waste water management.
He served as an internal examiner at postgraduate levels to examine the research activities of university students, external examiner for PhD, MSc and final under graduate vivas for students of University of Johannesburg, South Africa, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria, Durban University of Technology, University of South Africa, Anna University, India. He had mentored close to 50 B. Tech, and postgraduate (PhD, MTech and PGD) students. He is a member of the editorial board, and reviewer of some journals at national and international levels; International Journal of Plant & Soil Science, International Journal of Environment &Climate Change, Asian Journal of Advances in Agricultural Research, American Journal of Engineering Research, Journal of Engineering & Applied Science, International Journal of the Physical Sciences, International Journal of Water Resources & Environmental Engineering, International Journal of Scientific and Engineering Research and Journal of Environment & Earth Science among others.
Prof. Olumuyiwa Idowu Ojo belong some professional bodies including Water Institute of South Africa (WISA), The International Society for Environmental Information Science (ISEIS), Nigerian Institution of Environmental Engineers (NIEE), American Society of Agricultural & Biological Engineers (ASABE), Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) and a member of LAUTECH Ecological & Environmental research group. He was head (Chair) of Department of Agricultural Engineering, LAUTECH from August 2015 – March 2017. He attended some workshops, seminars and conferences in the USA, UK, South Africa, Canada, Brazil, the Netherlands, Israel and Nigeria.
